If you've lost track of what's going on, be sure to check out the latest updates page to catch-up on who has what and so on. In the 2008 Round Robin we took a look at the Treo Pro.

While the HTC-built hardware was pretty nice, Palm's old operating system was so far behind the times (it hadn't changed from Treo 680 we reviewed the year before that and was already showing its grey hair) that the Palm device we reviewed was actually running Windows Mobile.

The BGR managed to get full details of what is supposed to be coming in web OS 1.4, you can see the bug fixes and features updates that are due in the latest version of web OS below.

The Palm web OS 1.4 update has finally showed up as being available for install on my Sprint Palm Pre this morning.

Palm's management had said that the update would be rolled out in February during their CES press event last month. As of right now, the 1.4.0 update is only available for web OS Pre and Pixi phones from Sprint, O2 UK, O2 DE, O2 Ireland, and Movistar networks.

Note that this wiki page is always the authoritative source of information about this process, so you should refer to this page first for any and all instructions.

Palm owners have been waiting for the latest version, web OS 1.4 for quite some time, it had been rumored to be released on the 15th and then the 25th of February, now we are not sure if it is actually coming today, as it looks like Sprint has pulled the article from their website.

Between New Year's celebrations and CES 2010 in Vegas last week, my final Palm review is coming at you about 10 days later than it should. Last week at CES 2010 Palm announced that the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus will be arriving at Verizon in the weeks ahead, so I now have much better perspective of where things are at and going for Palm than I would have had if I had this up when I should have.

And with holidays and CES now behind us, the Smartphone Round Robin is back into full swing so stay tuned for lots more fun.

With the release of the web OS 2.1.0 doctor by HP for O2 and Vodafone Pre devices, there is now a legal way to get web OS 2.1 onto the legacy devices of carriers that are not onboard with the 2.x upgrade. You should always be prepared for the unlikely possibility that your device may be completely wiped and your Palm profile may be permanently destroyed.

Compatible devices include all Pre and Pre Plus devices. You must read this page from top to bottom twice before starting this procedure. Do not proceed unless you have made appropriate backups and are OK with that.
